According to chapter 5 of DGUV Information 209-093

The DGUV defines a 4-level qualification system for working on high-voltage systems in series-produced vehicles.

The level of training depends on the complexity of the activity to be performed and on the employee's previous training.

Sensitized person

  • Sensitized person

Person who has received instruction (FuP)

  • General work outside HV systems

Skilled Person for High-Voltage (FHV)

  • Working on HV systems in non-live state

Skilled Person for live-line working

  • Troubleshooting
  • Exchange of live HV-Components
Training contents & Course description

All courses can be done fully or partially online.

Level S: Sensitized person

  • Operate and work near HV vehicles
  • Working environment: Workshops & Aftersales

  • Included:
  • 2 UE (2 x 45min)
  • Handout
  • Certificate

  • Content:
  • Raise awareness for handling HV vehicles
  • Operate & Clean
  • Special features in driving behavior
  • Charging procedure
  • Comprehension test
  • Q & A

Level 1S: Person who has received instruction (FuP)

  • General work outside HV systems
  • Working environment: Workshops & Aftersales

  • Included:
  • 1 day - 6 UE (6 x 45min)
  • Training materials
  • Certificate

  • Content:
  • HV components and systems
  • Hazards & protective measures
  • Legal framework
  • Overview charging systems
  • Non-electrical work
  • Final exam

Level 2S: Skilled Person for High-Voltage (FHV)

  • Working on HV systems in non-live state
  • Working environment: Workshops & Aftersales

  • Previous Education A: No previous electrical training
  • 8 days - 80 UE (80 x 45min)
  • of which 8 UE practical

  • Previous Education B: Previous education from training/studies
  • 2 days - 16 UE (16 x 45min)
  • of which 8 UE practical

  • Previous Education C: Individual determination
  • >1 day - X UE + 8 UE Practical Training (>8 x 45min)

  • Basics of electromobility
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Electrical hazard & first aid
  • Safety measures
  • High-voltage concept and vehicle technology
  • Practical work on HV vehicles

Level 3S: Live-line working (AuS)

  • Live-line working on HV systems
  • Working environment: Workshops & Aftersales

  • Requirements:
  • Level 2S
  • over 18 age
  • First aid course

  • Included:
  • 3 days - 24 UE (24 x 45min)
  • of which 16 UE practical
  • Training materials
  • Certificate

  • Content:
  • Special requirements for companies
  • Technical and management responsibility
  • Safe working procedures for AuS
  • Hazard potential of HV energy storage systems
  • Practical live-line work
